The E3 is the top of the original E Series trio and the one that makes the strongest case for the range. Same aluminium cantilever as the E2, same Magnetic Duplex Technology, but with a super-elliptical bonded stylus that changes what the cartridge can do.
Super-elliptical styli reach parts of the groove that elliptical and spherical profiles cannot. At a front-to-back radius of 0.3 mil, the E3's stylus traces high frequency groove detail more completely, controls sibilance more effectively, and delivers a more refined and open presentation overall. The difference is most obvious on vocal recordings and anything with complex high-frequency content, where a lesser stylus smears and distorts.
Goldring factory-adjusted for optimised channel balance and crosstalk. Standard 3.5 mV output, half-inch mount. Tracking weight 1.5 to 2.5 grams. Replacement E3 stylus available separately.
