QED Reference Audio 40 Interconnect

The Reference Audio 40 is where QED's analogue interconnect engineering reaches its conclusions. The defining design decision here is removing all conductive material from the plug bodies. Conventional phono plugs use metal barrels and sleeves that act as secondary conductors, introducing eddy current losses and micro-resonances. QED's Analoc2 plug uses thermoplastic body material instead, leaving only the signal-carrying contacts in the circuit.

Silver-plated 99.999% OFC conductors in an LDPE dielectric carry the signal in an asymmetrical twisted pair geometry. The Zn/Mn ferrite jacket absorbs radio-frequency noise above the audible band before it can modulate the signal, and complete OFC shield braid gives 100% electromagnetic screening coverage. Capacitance, inductance, loop resistance and dissipation factor are all at the low end of what is physically achievable in a cable of this construction. Gold-plated Analoc2 RCA connectors are fitted as standard.
