The 5020 is a standmount that dominates your space with its sound rather than its size. Innovative design and uncompromised engineering give it a performance that belies the cabinet, and its understated looks are at odds with just how assertive and convincing it sounds.
At the centre is the C3 Continuous Curved Cone mid/bass driver, the technology that defines the 5000 series. The smooth continuous curve delivers deep, well damped bass alongside an articulate midrange, while substantial magnets and large voice coils give a 50 percent lift in power handling over a comparable driver. A 125mm driver is matched here with a 25mm floating tweeter, hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated for lower distortion and seamless integration.
The cabinet draws on Concept range construction, with P2P (Point to Point) bracing keeping it exceptionally rigid and the soundstage accurate. A butyl rubber and black acrylic baffle suppresses unwanted vibration and gives the front a clean, uninterrupted look.
Frequency response runs from 53Hz to 30kHz, with a 6 ohm nominal impedance and 87.9dB sensitivity. It likes 25 to 100 watts per channel. A pair of 5020s on good stands is endlessly rewarding.
